Labels and the Dangers of Labelling People - A Christian POV

Labels can be very destructive!

Labels are not of God.

Alone.

Ugly.

Crazy.

Poor.

Sad.

Stupid.

Weak.

Fat.

Hopeless.

Loser.

Selfish.

Unworthy.

These labels are not of God.

God does not call anyone by these labels.

I know there are times we might feel like perfect people with a superior position and thus equipped with permission to spiritually belittle others.

Or in a nasty manner belittle others.

It is not the Lord's will to do that.

Over the weekend I lost a client and an opportunity because someone contacted my client to terrify them.

It is a wicked act and not something that God could ever do.

Obviously, this person got the information of my work details by hacking my devices (a crime) but has the temerity to be bad-mouthing me to clients.

I forgive him/her/them and I give them up to the Lord.

God will be the one to handle this and bring recompense for me in Jesus' name, amen.

Yes, I have sometimes labeled others and I repent for it.

Ever since I gave Jesus Lordship and began walking in the Spirit, I have been less guilty of labeling others.

I repent anyways. Forgive me, Lord.

There are strong reasons to not label others and try to sabotage or stop their progress.

Psalm 1:1

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.

The man who walks in the counsel of the wicked is not blessed. (May God forgive you).

The man who sets foot on the path of sinners is not blessed. (May God forgive you).

The man who sits in the seats of the mockers is not blessed. (May God forgive you).

I pray that you would receive grace to meditate on the

Psalms 1: 2-3

2 But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.

Delight in God's word.

Meditate on it day and night.

This will make you a tree planted by streams of water and you will yield fruit in your season.

Your leaf will not wither and you will prosper in everything you do.

This is the blessing.

People who surrender their life to Christ and renew their minds can begin to enjoy the benefits of the kingdom.

It is all a matter of time.

They categorically will enjoy the blessing of the Lord if they start renewing their mind.

Unless...

Unless you put labels on them.

When you put labels on people, you prevent them from finding their identity in Christ.

Listen to what many people have to say about labels.

What it does to people.

What it does to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Quotes about Labels

People will try to label you not good enough, too slow, too old, too many mistakes. You can't stop negative comments or prevent negative labels, but you can choose to not let them hold you back. - Joel Osteen.

Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people. - Martina Navratilova.

Labels are for jars, not people. - Anonymous

Just because people say hurtful and negative things to you doesn't mean they are true. Shake off those negative labels today believe who God says you are. - Lisa Osteen Comes.

Examine the labels you apply to yourself. Every label is a boundary or limit you will not let yourself cross. - Wayne Dyer.

Don't rely on labels, for too often they are fables. -  Charles Spurgeon.

As a person.

As a believer who wants to become better.

Who wants to become everything God wants them to be.

You need to receive one thing.

You need to arise and get the courage to drop the labels.

You need to choose to find your identity in Christ.

If you ask God for help, He will help you.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

I pray that you would ask God for help today.

So you can find your identity in Christ.

God is depending on you to call yourself who He calls you.

The world may never view you right.

Some people will choose to never view you right in a vengeful act of destruction.

Forgive them.

Receive grace to rise about the low life.

Choose the higher life in Christ.

Obey the word.

The word of God is not hard to obey.

You were created to obey God's word.

Follow the Spirit.

He is the one Jesus sent to you, to help you live the Christian life.

He will help you.

Receive grace to do differently.

To ignore what they do and trust God to show up for you.

God is bigger.

God is stronger.

God knows where the resources are.

Trust Him to take care of you.

Psalm 139:12-13

13 For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.

God speaks truth.

No matter how things look, you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

God has made you a 'wonder' on the earth.

Believe Him.
